Zach Miller grew up on Timbercreek Farm. His family acquired the farm in 1976. During his youth, Zach trained and competed sport horses, eventually leading to a career as a steeplechase jockey. Following his retirement in 2006, Zach and his wife Sara returned to the farm. Zach Earned a B.A. from the University of Virginia in 2009 where he studied theology and environmental science. During his studies, he encountered the works of seminal agriculturalists Wendell Berry, Rudolph Steiner and William Albrecht. Those thinkers, among others, shaped the philosophy and sustainable approach to farming that Zach has applied to his work at Timbercreek. In 2009 Zach and Sara launched direct market sales of beef, pork and poultry to the restaurant market of Charlottesville, VA.
At Timbercreek Farm, farming is truly a family endeavor and a way of life. Having grown up on farms, we’ve embraced the values of hard work and caring for animals, and now we’re committed to passing those lessons on to our children. While we strive to maintain a healthy balance between farming and family life, it’s not always an easy task—but it’s a deeply rewarding one.
